Abley Auckland team’s “Sub Football” success

Last week marked the Abley Auckland team’s final match against the “Legions of Doom” in our Sub Football tournament. The victory for this game went to the Abley team with a score of 21-2. There were a few ups and down during the 10-match league with 4 losses and 6 wins, but the fun we had and team bonding was the ultimate outcome for us all.

A few members of the team had played football before, such as Rahul Kumar one of our Senior Transportation Engineers, who smashed a number of goals throughout the tournament and gave awesome team motivational speeches prior to each game.

Courtney Groundwater, People and Places team leader, started playing for the Abley team during the last 4 weeks of the tournament and made a huge impact for our team in defence, even taking few tumbles for the team.

The question is now, “what will we do on our Wednesday evenings?” This tournament was something our whole team looked forward every week…we look forward to competing again next summer!
