Steve applies Abley’s wealth of geospatial expertise in the strategic road safety domain to improve the safety of transportation networks nationally and internationally.
He has technically led award-winning geospatial solutions that enable government organisations to analyse, programme and prioritise infrastructure investment. This includes delivering out of the box Esri solutions and bespoke web experiences that are built specifically with optimising client workflows in mind.
Steve completed an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Geography at the University of Canterbury, followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Geospatial Information Systems.
Since starting at Abley he has been busy delivering projects in strategic road safety, starting with network-based risk analysis, and then moving to web solutions and software development. With this he has developed comprehensive knowledge of Esri desktop and web platforms, including ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.
Steve received Highly Commended in the 2017 Esri Young Scholar award, has been announced as a finalist in the 3M Traffic Safety Award and Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards and has won project awards at the ACENZ Innovate NZ Awards, NZ Spatial Excellence Awards and Transportation Research Forum Awards.
Steve is a natural problem solver, always working on finding better ways to get the best out of his solutions. He has a passion for innovating and is driven to understand where new technology can improve what he has done in the past.
