Matt assists New Zealand and Australian clients in developing network strategies and implementation plans to address and reduce road trauma. He combines his expertise in road safety engineering and data analytics to optimise how road controlling authorities deliver road safety across their networks.
About Matt
Matt completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury. He began his career at Abley, before moving to Melbourne, Australia, where he worked with Road Safety Victoria within the Department of Transport and Planning to contribute to the delivery of the Victorian Road Safety Strategy (2021–2030).
Through his experiences in both New Zealand and Australia, Matt has worked across a diverse range of areas in transport and road safety engineering. He has gained experience in road safety evaluation, network planning, infrastructure and speed management, policy development, and the development and delivery of road safety data, insights, systems and tools.
Matt has recently rejoined Abley in Christchurch, New Zealand, to continue his work using road safety data and insights to inform better decision-making across road safety strategies, planning and implementation. He is passionate about his work and the direct impact it has on saving lives.
Matt enjoys getting hands-on with road safety and transport network data, working closely with our spatial and technology teams to produce intelligent tools that assist road controlling authorities in making data-driven decisions.
