About Kate
Kate began her career working at Arup In New Zealand and Australia, where she focused on transport modeling and integrating transport planning with GIS. After returning home, her focus moved to project managing walking and cycling projects around Auckland.
After several years at engineering consultancies, Kate joined local government. She worked in the development planning area focusing on the review and critique of transport outcomes for new developments and subdivisions throughout Auckland. This involved planning and engineering advice from high level master planning stage through to resource consents and engineering plan approvals. Over 10 years of assessing plans and consents has provided Kate with a sound knowledge and invaluable experience in the design of the road network for all modes of transport.
Kate enjoys working with the project team to find design solutions to get the best outcome for all transport users, particularly where the focus is encouraging active travel. Her role in Land Development at times calls for conflict resolution and effective negotiation skills were needed to navigate challenging situations between developers and Council specialists.
