Jamie is a software industry professional since 2012 working for companies in NZ and the USA. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in geography and computer science from the University of Canterbury.
Jamie alongside the Abley software development team helps New Zealand businesses implement geospatial software that enables them to make better spatially-driven decisions.
About Jamie
Jamie started off in the electronics industry as an electronics technician working on forklift chargers and solar inverters. He then went on to complete a computer science and geography degree at the University of Canterbury, graduating in 2014. While at university, he joined Telogis as an intern in 2012 working on their vehicle fleet management software and mobile applications.
After graduation, he moved into a full-time role as a software automation engineer at Telogis and worked there for nearly 4 years. Most recently he completed ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) foundation certification.
Jamie has a wide range of software development experience covering testing, automation, mobile development, web development, server backend, embedded vehicle hardware, DevOps practices and agile methodologies.
He is passionate for being able to solve problems with technological solutions and seeing the positive impact they have on people. He is currently a member of IEEE, Canterbury tech and Linux Australia. In 2019 he become a mentor for Canterbury tech during their winter mentor program.
Jamie takes a Language-agnostic approach to programming and adapts to any task at hand. His wide range of skills enable him to deliver quality client solutions for their specific situation. He is passionate about continuous learning and open source development and is currently managing an open source project that has over one million yearly downloads.
