Logan Copland
Logan works in Abley’s Land Development team as a Senior Transportation Planner. He helps land developers through their land development project by providing expert transportation advice as part of planning processes. This includes undertaking integrated transport assessments (ITAs) to support subdivision and land use consent applications, designations, and plan changes. Logan also undertakes transportation reviews of consent applications on behalf of local authorities.
About Logan
Logan has a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Planning degree (MPlan) from the University of Otago. As part of his MPlan, Logan prepared a transportation planning-focused thesis, which concentrated on developing a set of policy recommendations to facilitate uptake of public transport to school. This research then formed the basis of further analysis and eventual publication in the Journal of Transport and Health.
He began his professional career working for the Dunedin City Council’s (DCC) transport department, in roles spanning from graduate through to senior level. Logan gained invaluable experience providing expert transportation advice on private development proposals. This work included experience acting as an expert witness in many council hearings and the Environment Court. He is therefore well versed in resource management processes and strategic transportation planning.
Logan relishes the opportunity to assist clients with achieving their land development goals through providing high quality expert advice. His practical approach enables him to identify and solve problems and achieve high quality outcomes, both for Abley’s clients and the transportation network. Logan uses his experience from his time in the public sector to engage in positive, constructive conversations which ensures a smooth approach to the land development process.
In his spare time, Logan can be found on the local golf course.
