State Highway 6 (SH6) was the subject of speed reduction trials between Blenheim and Nelson as part of New Zealand’s Road to Zero program. The initiative rolled out in December 2020 aimed to reduce the number of fatalities and serious injuries on the nation’s roads. Speed limits were dropped from 100kph to 90kph along much of the route, with some sections reduced to 80kph.
