We are continuing to experience growth in the location and technology area and looking to employ a Graduate Spatial Developer to help us meet this growing demand.

What you’ll be doing

This is a graduate role, so we understand you have lots to learn.  You will get to work on a variety of projects.  You will work alongside clients and stakeholders to provide them with innovative solutions and exceed their expectations.

You will work towards completing our graduate program, which ensures development of your technical skills, but also meeting clients, loads of professional development, touching on project management and understanding the commercial environment of a consultancy business.

What you’ll bring with you

Choosing the right person isn’t simply about results.  It’s about relationships and fitting in well with our team. So, let’s make sure you’re the right person for us.  You need to be:

  • A brilliant communicator– you’ll be chatting to people in-person, via email or video conferencing, and in meetings.
  • Great analytical skills – you’re into GIS, so you must love crunching the data. You’ll get plenty of opportunities to show us how you embrace the challenges that are thrown your way.
  • Hungry to learn and grow – you’ll have a strong desire to search for new spatial knowledge. We will give you plenty of opportunity to do just that.
  • Be passionate about all things spatial and writing code – Yes passion is one of our values and we want you to ooze passion.  Tell us about that in your cover letter.
  • Some technical skills – You need to have both software development and spatial skills so knowledge of Esri software products (e.g. ArcGIS Pro, ModelBuilder, ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcPy), spatial databases and some developer skills such as C# .NET Core, WPF, MVC, or Python.  Also, some front-end development skills in HTML/CSS, SASS/Less, Bootstrap and modern UI frameworks (JavaScript ES6+, Typescript, Vue, React with Webpack.  This is quite the list, so if you only have some of these spatial and coding skills, please still apply for the role.
  • Have incredibly high standards – this is where your eye for detail is so important and your aspiration to produce quality results comes in.
  • A builder of strong relationships– as a graduate you will be supporting your more experienced colleagues, and may be client meetings, so it is incredibly important that you’re approachable, and can foster positive relationships.
  • Full of positive energy – we want people to feel energised, inspired and motivated to be around you, so bring your ‘glass half-full’ attitude to work.

Some extra skills or experience you might have

We get you’re a graduate, so might not have a lot of work experience.  If you have had holiday jobs, part-time employment or internships or voluntary work where you have developed some interesting skills, please tell us about them.  If you have already started your career journey and have had between 0-12 months’ experience, and this role sounds like you, we would also be happy to hear from you.

We would also love to see some samples of the work you have done either as part of your university’s studies or some project work in your own time.


We have offices based in Auckland or Christchurch, and this role can be in either of these locations.

Start Date

You will be in your final year of studies, or recently graduated with a relevant qualification and available to start in mid-November 2021.
