About David

David completed his degree in Civil Engineering, specialising in transport at Canterbury University, Christchurch, New Zealand.

He began his career at a New Zealand based consultancy where he developed traffic models for analysis and economic assessment across New Zealand and Australia.

David was headhunted by Christchurch City Council and worked there for 11 years.  He initially managed Christchurch’s traffic model before moving into transportation planning where he represented Council on the Southern & Northern Motorways projects, undertook transport planning for the largest urban growth areas in the city – the Southwest & Belfast Area Plans, completed the business case for the Fendalton Road 4 laning – part of the gateway route between airport and city centre, and provided oversight of the concept design for the first bus lanes within the city.

In 2008 David moved to Abu Dhabi, where he returned to consultancy and worked as a Transport Planning Project Manager for two and a half years. He was the project manager for the first Emirate-wide travel demand model and managed transport planning elements on large land development projects and a major urban growth area.

In 2010 David was headhunted by the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport (DoT) where he worked for close to 12 years. David initially worked with the modelling team, including managing the team for a period before again moving into strategic planning where he represented DoT on an integrated multimodal surface transport masterplan for each of the three regions of the Emirate, as well as numerous other transport planning projects.
