What makes Abley a great place to work
We believe diversity is critical to business success. Abley is passionate about making sure we have a diverse and inclusive team and supportive workplace culture. We embrace getting to know each other, treating each other with respect and provide exciting opportunities for each team member to reach their full potential.
Research repeatedly indicates that diversity improves productivity, creativity, innovation, and profits.
As a signatory to the Diversity Agenda Accord, we’re committed to being publicly accountable for doing our bit to make the transport engineering and GIS technology industries more diverse.
The calibre of our team reflects the positive culture we create and the career opportunities we provide. Our people present at industry conferences, achieve recognition for their work and are supported in their professional development.
Flexible working and a variety of social activities encourage health and wellbeing. We support individual development with graduate programmes, ongoing training, coaching and professional memberships.
And we have fun. From fitness sessions, sports teams, monthly lunches, social functions and our annual weekend away, our social club organises a variety of events throughout the year to bring us together.
Our work makes us acutely aware of the need to invest in our environment for our community and future generations.
As a member of the Sustainable Business Network, we’re working on measuring and reducing our environmental impact.
We advocate for walking, cycling and public transport, and use our voices as industry experts to promote active travel throughout New Zealand and also internationally.
Our location data specialists work with organisations to reduce their environmental impact, by tracking carbon emissions, reducing agricultural water pollution and supporting greater efficiency for a wide range of business tasks with environmental impact.

Abley is an accredited Engineering New Zealand (ENZ) Professional Development Partner (PDP). We work in partnership with ENZ to develop our engineering staff, strengthen our business and support the wider engineering profession.
We also offer a professional development programme for our location and technology team members, including support for gaining Esri and FME certifications, and ultimately to gain accreditation as a Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP-AP).
Moving to Aotearoa
If you are considering overseas work experience, working and living in New Zealand is a great way to develop your career while exploring new places and experiencing a different culture. Moving to a new country can be a daunting experience, but at Abley we do our best to help you settle in quickly.
Our country is well-known for its beautiful natural landscapes, abundance of outdoor activities (hiking, cycling, skiing to name a few!) and friendly people who have a ‘can-do’ attitude. New immigrants generally find it easy to integrate into the ‘Kiwi’ way of life, especially with support from our Abley team.
Abley is an accredited employer with Immigration New Zealand. This allows Abley to support visa applications under the Talent (Accredited Employer) scheme.
We’re always keen to hear from enthusiastic people with skills and experience in transportation planning and engineering, spatial, FME or software development who want to join our team.
If you’re keen to join our team, email Nichola Blue with your CV and covering letter.
