Hamish is a Senior Spatial Data Specialist and is part of the Digital Engineering team. His focus is on data, process and systems integration and uses a variety of programs and scripting languages to achieve this.

Hamish works closely with clients to understand their unique problems and deliver appropriate results. He uses his broad knowledge of spatial systems to develop bespoke solutions for clients and ensures that the solutions work efficiently and produce satisfactory outcomes.

About Hamish

Hamish holds both FME Desktop and Server certification along with a number of Esri Certifications. These, coupled with his Post Graduate Diploma in GIS and background in Computer Science and Geography provides him with a broad skill set to draw from.

Even though Abley was Hamish’s’ first job after graduating, he has had the opportunity work across a wide range of clients including local, regional and national government, private and public companies. His work areas have included planning, logistics, road safety, transport, disaster recovery, development and visualisation.

Hamish has also been recognised for his work both nationally and internationally through being awarded the 2015 ESRI Young Scholar Award, Undergraduate of the Year 2015 NZ Spatial Excellence Awards, Best Young Professional paper and the 3M Traffic Safety Young Professional Award ad the 2016 IPENZ TG Conference and a finalist for the Young Professional of the Year at the 2018 NZ Spatial Excellence Awards.

Hamish is a true problem solver. He enjoys nothing more than the feeling of success after battling through a challenging problem. He also enjoys applying new technologies to existing problems and revisiting past problems to see how technology advancements can produce a better solution.
